Consent & Communication

Changing your mind is normal

People change their minds. It can happen because of mood, comfort, tiredness, nerves, or no particular reason at all. That is allowed.

You do not owe a reason

You can stop or change what you are doing at any point, and you do not have to explain why.

You never need CSent, a phone, or any app to say stop. Saying it, or showing it, is enough.

Ways to say it

  • "I want to stop."
  • "Can we slow down?"
  • "I've changed my mind about this bit."
  • "I'm not feeling it any more — nothing to do with you."

If someone changes their mind with you

The respectful response is to stop and check in, without pressing for a reason or trying to talk them round.

Feeling disappointed is understandable. Acting on that disappointment by pushing is not.

Being unsure counts too

"Not sure" is never treated as a yes in CSent, and it should not be treated as one in person either.

An unsure answer is an invitation to pause, not a soft agreement.

In CSent

You can change or withdraw your choices in a session at any time, and the change takes effect immediately.

A change is recorded as part of the session's history, so nobody has to argue later about whether it happened in the app.

CSent shares general educational information only. It does not determine whether consent legally existed, and it is not medical or legal advice.
