Consent conversations don't have to be awkward
Checking in can be brief and warm. It does not need to sound like a form being filled in.
Before
- "What are you up for tonight?"
- "Is there anything you'd rather not do?"
- "Tell me if anything doesn't feel right."
During
- "Is this good?"
- "Do you want to keep going, or pause?"
- "Want me to stop?"
After
- "How are you feeling?"
- "Anything you'd want different next time?"
Words are useful, but they are not everything
Behaviour, body language and the circumstances all matter alongside what is said.
No particular phrase, script or app screen creates legal protection or removes the need to pay attention to the other person.
One yes is only one yes
Each activity is its own conversation. Agreement to one thing does not extend to something else.
Boundaries can sit comfortably alongside a yes — "yes to this, not that" is a complete answer.
