Understanding CSent

Before you start a session

Nothing here is a required step. It is simply what responsible use of CSent looks like.

A short checklist

  • Using CSent is voluntary for both people.
  • Nobody should be pressured into starting, joining or answering in a particular way.
  • Your choices are yours, and the other person's are theirs.
  • Choices can change at any time, including after a session has started.
  • You still need to communicate with each other in the real world.
  • If consent is withdrawn, stop — in the app or not.
  • CSent is not a substitute for respecting someone's boundaries.

If someone pressures you to use it

Being pushed to record a yes is itself pressure, and a yes given under pressure is not consent.

You can decline to use CSent, or stop part-way through, without explaining why.

CSent shares general educational information only. It does not determine whether consent legally existed, and it is not medical or legal advice.
